NYS Pistol Permit Class

This is a two-day class, from 9am – 5pm. Taught by James Emmick of Firearms Training of Western New York (FTWNY), the first instructor approved by Erie County and NYC to teach the new class. He is approved by more counties than any other instructor in NYS.

Cost – $369 per student.

This is the new state-mandated 16 hour NYS Concealed Carry Class that New York requires all residents to take before applying for a pistol permit. This is a multiple-day course requiring you to attend all course days on time and participate completely in order to earn your certificate.

Our class will meet, and exceed, the NY State and NYC required standards to apply for a NY State/NYC concealed carry license. This will be a class that people will want to take again…a class that you will send your friends and family to with full confidence that they will receive the same exceptional training in a safe and comfortable environment. This provides each student the opportunity to not only learn the required material, but also master it. The classroom portion will be taught with plenty of breaks and the ability to stand and move around the classroom if you choose. The range portion of the class will be taught on site. We will be setting up an indoor Ultimate Training Munitions (UTM) range. The UTM guns are real Glock 17 handguns that fire a 9mm marking/training round. These guns can be used for the live-fire portion of the class, and the huge benefit is that we do not need to utilize a true shooting range for class. These are a safe training option which NY State law allows us to use during for the required live fire portion of the class. Our class will not only give students the required training certificate needed to apply to NY State for a concealed carry license, but will also include the required training certificates to apply to Florida and Arizona for non-resident pistol permits. This includes printed photos, completed fingerprint cards, pre-labeled envelopes and (most importantly) your certificates of completion. Fingerprints for NY State will be done through your individual county AFTER the class. No gun, ammo or holster? No problem! We provide all the guns, holsters, belts, ammo, targets and class materials at no extra cost to you. Each student will receive their own safety glasses, yours to keep!

The all inclusive price of our class is $369 per student.

(($369 is the NEW PRICE, starting 3/4/25) (Please note that the $369 payment is non-refundable unless you cancel your spot 48 or more hours in advance. You can also switch to another available date that works for you. A $25 fee will be deducted for any refund processed.)

2. After receiving your payment email, forward the receipt email to us at in**@ft***.com. In the email, include the scheduled date and location (listed below) you wish to attend. Provide us with the correct spelling of your full name for your certificate, as well as the NY COUNTY you reside in and the name you want on your certificate.

After receiving your email, we will promptly confirm your reservation for class. Kindly be aware that attendance for the entire 16 hours of training is mandatory in order to be eligible for certification and to apply for your Concealed Carry License in NY State. To accommodate our students, we offer the flexibility to complete the class by breaking up the training sessions. For instance, you may choose to attend 8 hours of training in one month and complete the remaining 8 hours in the following month’s class.
